About

At present, I work as Channel Manager for Subtv, a television company, which broadcasts to almost all universities in the UK. We have a screen network of seven hundred plasmas installed in student union bars, which enable us to have an audience reach of 1.75 million.

My roll as Channel Manager consists of viewing all material before broadcasts, ensuring all live and pre-recorded content meets both Ofcom regulations and Subtv technical standards. My ongoing tasks include scheduling programming, including bumpers, stings, “what’s next” etc., using purpose-built software. I have independently devised and produced all current programming on the network. I Introduced channel branding to establish a strong visual identity while also acquiring commissioning and producing content for the channel, such as live music sessions and extreme sports. I also book studios and equipment needed for any production of content that we create. As well as encoding all broadcast material to meet network technical requirements. As part of my job I am responsible for acquisition of music, which involves daily liaison with both minor and major record labels; and creation of playlists, requiring constant awareness of current music trends, chart positions, and audience preferences.
